The quest to break 70

I have done it before, but it's been awhile. I am going to start chronicling my rounds and my obsession/goal to break 70.

Date: 9/22/07
Venue: Pumpkin Ridge (Ghost Creek)
Format: Casual round
Score: 78

I struck the ball pretty well and was in a great frame of mind, but ultimately I had no chance due to recently punched and sanded greens.

So long Torii

Well, it looks like tomorrow will be Hunter's last game at the dome as a Twin. I've enjoyed years of watching him make spectacular catches in center, and until the last two years, suffered through some of the worst plate discipline I've ever seen.

My all time favorite Torii moment though was the late July 2004 series at US Cellular field when he absolutely annihilated White Sox catcher Jamie Burke. If I remember correctly, the Sox held the lead in the central at the time, the Twins came in and swept them, ripping their hearts out in the process. The Sox seemed to tuck their tales after that collision and the Twins went on to win the central by several games.

Barry not coming back to the Giants

He'll make a serviceable DH for some American League team. Too bad he doesn't play ball the Twins way. Oh well, someone will pay his dumbass.

Dumbest rules in sports

Sport-Hockey
Dumb Rule: Ability to ice the puck while shorthanded.

Think about it, you commit a rules infraction (tripping, slashing, high sticking etc), then you are allowed to do something previously against the rules as relief. What the fuck?

Sport-Baseball
Dumb Rule: Batter allowed to attempt to advance to first base on strike three in dirt

Why? You swung at a pitch in the dirt dumbass.
